Seize the Day- Carpe Diem’s literal translation- perfectly describes the primeval urge that exists within us- to drop the cares of everyday life and be part of something truly extraordinary. The experince lasts for a weekend in the verdant environs of IIM Calcutta, bringing together some of India’s best known institutes and throwing open a breathtaking array of cultural events.

IIM Calcutta’s International Cultural festival has set exceptionally high standards in participation, concept and popularity attracting more than 8000 participants from 97 colleges last year. In a very short span of time, Carpe Diem has emerged as the region’s premiere showcase of talent in the fields of music, theater and dance, with a dash of fun. Over the years, Carpe Diem has suceeded in attracting the leading maestros of the performing arts, budding talent and patronage from the student community across the nation and a strong association with the industry.

The theme of Carpe Diem 2008 is Temptations.

Temptations is a lot of things. It is a yearning to explore old mental blocks, finding new avenues, new vistas and the courage to experiment.

But the goal is not to give in to Temptation, but to keep it within us and let it drive us forever forward…
