The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) at IIMC is an initiative to achieve greater understanding of this process as well as stimulate its development for societal benefit. CEI’s vision is to be acknowledged as a programme of international renown, where students, faculty, alumni, industry and policy makers collaborate, learn and innovate.

CEI utilizes a Core Faculty Team, which brings multi-disciplinary skills and expertise to create a great team to educate, research and develop Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The team comprises of faculty from different functional areas and disciplines. Prof. B. N. Srivastava and Prof. Anjan Raichaudhuri currently lead the Core Team.

What we do?

Entrepreneurial Research and Case Development

CEI aims to collaborate with faculty and fellows who have thesis topics on subjects related to entrepreneurship and innovation. The centre has also collaborated with industry to develop research cases for further study. Business models from diverse firms such as Air Deccan, Sula Vineyards and Ferns ‘n’ petals were covered in the cases.

Venture Creation and Support

CEI provides support to creation of new ventures by providing consulting services in evaluating opportunities, identifying resource requirements, assisting in resource acquisitions and managing new ventures.

Events

As part of a new initiative, CEI has started organizing events that invite eminent speakers to share their experiences and insights to help young entrepreneurs make a smooth entrepreneurs make a smooth transition from the idea to implementation.

CEI organized the first ever Entrepreneurship Summit on 23 December 2007 at the IIM Campus. It attracted participation of about four hundred, which included students from top colleges across the Eastern region, including participation from top schools like IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, XLRI-Jamshedpur, XIMB-Bhubaneswar, etc., alumni, entrepreneurs, investors and academia.

The Entrepreneurship Summit 2007 brought together some of the world’s most entrepreneurial minds as keynote speaker, speakers, and conference delegates. The list of speakers includes Mr. Sridar Iyengar (President, TiE Global), Mr. Ajit Balakrishnan (Chairman, Rediff.com), Mr. Kanwaljit Singh (co-founder and MD, Helion Ventures), Mr. R. Thulasiraj (ED, Aravinda Eye Hospital), Mr. R. Sriram (Ex-CEO, Crossword), Mr. Pradeep Gupta (CMD, Cybermedia) and others.
