Jokatimes was founded in February 2009 by Abhishek Nagaraj, IIM Calcutta batch of 2010 (PGDM) as a member of the Internet Solutions Group. All explanations follow!

The Internet Solutions Group is a group of people who think too much of themselves. They think that their presence helps every college student keep his academic life on track, helps people organize parties, share cabs and find lost things – all while saving the college a few crores of its money. While there might be some truth to the argument, the fact remains that the group is basically a bunch of geeks who incessantly fret about how the world is going to end if they don’t get enough bandwidth.

Abhishek Nagaraj conceived of this idea and implemented the code. He has basically built it off the years of hardwork that the people at Wordpress have put in. Of course, he will not shy from claiming that “he wrote all the code from scratch.”. Especially the cool AJAX photo effect we have on the front page.

Atul Mathur – as ISG head has been very supportive of the idea throughout. His needless criticism, an eye for detail and an unending stream of feedback has meant that the site has turned out better. Probably.

Other members of the ISG’s core committee (the one’s who are the best at doing all of the above) all claim to be integral parts of the process. While it is true without Hrishikesh Thite’s endless cribbing, Rahul Dasgupta’s polite interjections, Srikanth Kolli’s deadpan silence and Amit Agarwal’s pointed comments this site would’ve been endlessly poorer, jokatimes.com is still wondering whether they are worth all the hassle.

Ultimately, IIMC’s version of double Nobel winning Marie Curie, Chandrima Das deserves due credit. The ISG has estimated that the net present value of her future contributions far outlasts anything that any of the other people listed above. Of course, we still have to prevent her from “accidentally” posting her inane poetry and stories here.
